Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

|
The Young Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church of Madison consists of young adults ranging in age from 18 to 35. The members of this ministry have been nicknamed "The Workhorses" and serve many functions for its members, as well as, the church as a whole. The YA Ministry holds a vital role at First Baptist Church. Most importantly, the Ministry serves as a role model for the younger generation, or youth, of the Congregation. Maintaining an open, trusting relationship with our Youth Ministry will secure the longevity of the Young Adult Ministry for future generations. The Ministry is learning the "ins-&-outs" of Church procedures and functions from our elders, in order to keep Church traditions alive. The YA Ministry consist of various church leaders that assist in guiding and supporting the young adult members as they grow and learn how to walk with Christ through their service responsibilities, outreach, fellowship, and other related functions. The relationship with the "Pioneers" of First Baptist is vital, as it will set the stage for the Young Adults to actively participate in the worship experience to ensure their readiness when called upon to continue the Work of the Lord. The Young Adult Ministry is a support group in itself. Members aid each other with everyday issues, and concerns. Young Adults meet once a week and have been designated one Sunday per month to execute Worship responsibilities during service. The Young Adult Ministry is actively involved in Church fundraisers, and events, they sponsor "Family and Friends Day", and will be taking annual trips to foster the friendships of its Members.

Ushers
Carol Baxter, Leader
The Ministry: Ushering is a sacred ministry, and every usher has to stand ready to bring to bear upon its exercise every personal endowment and all that God has given by way of nature or of grace. An usher's warm welcome an gentle courtesy can set the whole tone for anything that might happen within the hearts of those who gather. Ushers are more than doorkeepers, they are "doors" given open access to the warmth of holly fellowship in the spirit of Jesus.
The Mission: The Senior Usher's mission is to meet, greet and seat all parishoners, visitors and friends that enter into the sanctuary; while assistig the miisters, deacons, nurses and any ministry or member by sight or request. Our faith continues away from the sanctuary as we care, share and dare to do the will of God in conjunction with the youth ushers. We avail ourselves to all service and events associated with the church.

Evangelism Ministry
George Martin and Carol Baxter, Leaders
The Great Commission Instructs Us to
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever, I have commanded you: And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Matthew 28:29-30
The Gospel - The Good News is for sharing and the New Testament is insistent that every Christian is a WITNESS
Personal Evangelism is the most effective way of spreading the good news because it is personal evangelism

Teens Ministry
Evelin Potts, Leader

The FBC Teen Scene
Left to right: Aaron Fant, Vaughn McIntosh, Jessica Richardson, Keir Bristol, Makela Pritchett, Kristen Smith, Caroline Smith, and Aaron Washington |
 |
The teen scene is designed first and foremost to praise Christ. We also engage in fellowship activities and services to build a sense of responsibility among the teens.
On the second Sunday of each month, the teens participate in delivering Sunday service to the FBC congregation. Involvement includes leading the responsive reading, delivering "our Church at Work" announcements, sharing the scripture reading, video-taping the service and acting as ushers. Since the inception of the teen ministry, participation and involvement has grown to include praise dancing under the direction of Teresa Sallie, formation of the young adult choir led by Keva Holman and Leandra Morris and fellowship events. The first fellowship event began with the teens making personal donations to the Katrina fund and was followed by sleepovers at the Brown Center, and participation in various church events. The signature undertaking by the Teens has been the Teen Canteen. The Teen Canteen takes place every second Sunday of the month. The teens provide baked goods for sale after Sunday service. Proceeds from the canteen are used to offset costs associated with funding events for the Teens.
I am very proud of the teens. When given the challenge by Pastor Smith to form the ministry, the teens established an agenda and executed the plan. Throughout the year the teens have excelled in school, improved their confidence and have established friendships with one another that will last a lifetime. Their relationship with Christ and the church are benefits of which we can all be proud.

Praise Dancers
Teresa Sallie, Leader
Acts 17:28 - "For in him we live and move and have our being...."
The Adult & Youth Praise Dance Team is the dance ministry of First Baptist Church. Our mission is to, through the ministry of dance, bring healing and deliverance to the mind, soul, and spirit; encouragement to worship and praise to God in every circumstance of life.
Whether you call it praise dance, worship dance, lyrical dance, interpretive dance, or liturgical dance, we believe our dance is to be ministry in every way. We have danced at churches, church programs and schools. God has beckoned us to share our gifts and ministry.
Truly we are thankful to the Lord for using us as vessels to touch the lives of so many people. We thank Him for our precious gifts of dance and the anointing He continually places on our lives! To God be the Glory!

All that I have seen readies me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.
Children need models, not critics.
Keep looking up. God is looking down.
To be lifted up, go down on your knees.
